About me
I am an artist and a designer, who is born in Shanghai, China. Ever since I was a teenager, I started to grow my passion for art, especially oil painting. As I set foot into my high school mini-school program specializing in visual arts, my art and design intuition sparked like fire. I realized how much more and more never-ending the journey in the art could be; the endless possibilities for me to discover out there is infinity. I received my BFA in illustration at Rhode Island School of Design and I'm now a master at Tsinghua University's Information Design Department.
My work is a constant search for the best way to interpret the idea of the relationship between individuals with the world, the culture, and the people. In order to understand these relationships, I need to separate them into independent entities and seek to transcend the boundaries between us and the subjects. Exploring the social phenomenon and telling people what is going on around us is something I’m eagerly seeking and producing in my art practices. I am a storyteller who does not limit myself to one medium, style, or concept; exploring the possibilities and learning new techniques in my art creation are very vital to my growth as an artist. Each piece of artwork I created is an extension of my identity from the past, where I’ve come from, and what I’ve learned. I always try to place meaning and purpose behind my work and hope people can connect to what I have shown.
I have done editorial illustration, painting, book design, packaging design, film, and animation. Each medium benefits me for expressing the conceptual core of a specific project such that different mediums affect the texture and color of the art. As a result, the choice of the medium also helps the audience interpret the art in a specific way. Color is another vital element in my portfolio. It is a way of my creative expression, aesthetic attractiveness, and creation of mood.
As the world is getting internet-centric, I’ve also gradually changed my focus to digital media. Mimicking traditional media in digital format provides an opportunity to explore the amalgamation of the two materials. While keeping the texture and brush marks of the traditional media, digital artworks are easier to share, duplicate, and publish.

Art is definitely the barometer that measures levels of cultural sophistication. It elevates our daily life. With my understanding of art, I hope my work can motivate people and be a bridge that links people together.
