Liping's Memory of Feifei, 2021
PR
As a kid, I was taken care by my grandma until grade three, when I left to Vancouver, Canada. In this short documentary, I had my cousin played as the kid version of me, depicting moments that I have the most memory of and emotions to as a kid. The film has sections of interviews from my grandma about my past and her memories of me as a kid. Her recollection of our past is then showcased with scenes that are vital to the development of my connection and attachment to my childhood. The film contains scenes from the house that I lived as a kid, the kinder-garden school that I studied at, the market that we always went, and food cooked by my grandma. The sense of nostalgia and love is unfolded in the film with the addition of songs that grandma and I would always sing. The songs further underline a sweet aroma of the strong bonding between us. The monochromatic colorling of the film adds up to the title, " LiPing's memory of Feifei, which shows the vintage and past quality of these scenes. This short documentary is a celebration for the care my grandma devoted and a gift for her for the amount care and
love she has for me.
